From 1800 to 1804 Sir John Soane, one of Britain's most influential architects, designed and built Pitzhanger Manor
as his country retreat. Visitors can see the restored architecture of his original design. It includes many features that Soane adapted
for his later buildings including Dulwich Picture Gallery and his city home in
Lincoln's Inn Fields. Pitzhanger Gallery is housed in the 1939 library building and hosts contemporary exhibitions by artists, architects
and designers. Pitzhanger's original landscaped parkland is now Walpole Park. Cafés in walled garden and Walpole Park.
